7 Things To Know About Beaches Moms Social Media On The Sand 2019
When I found out I was invited to Beaches Moms Social Media on the Sand 2019, I really couldn’t even post a GIF that expressed my excitement.
This invitation-only conference is in its 5th year of hosting at Beaches Sandals Turks and Caicos and has been a winner of PRNews’ Platinum PR Award For 2018 Event Marketing Campaign. Pretty cool!
Grace Bay, Providenciales, Turks and Caicos has been ranked #1 World’s Best Beach by TripAdvisor’s Travelers’ Choice Awards.
And now I know why.
The white sandy beaches, the turquoise water, and swimming with sea turtles made it the perfect backdrop for 100 Influencers to come together and network, learn, grow and breathe with their families.
Of course, my DM’s on Instagram were blowing up with all kinds of questions, comments and how do I get an invite from my fellow bloggers and influencers. So I’m sharing all the scoop you need to know at least from my perspective.
Disclaimer: Please note that I paid a conference fee and received a discounted stay at the Beaches Turks and Caicos resort. All flights were paid for by ourselves.
1.Is Beaches Turks and Caicos Worth it?
My answer is a big fat Yes!
With the all-inclusive packaging, it’s an easy way to spend a family vacation when food, drinks, and activities are abundant and easily accessible. Which means everything is paid for except for the hair braids.
The turquoise water isn’t bad to look at either. You can read more about my trip to Beaches Turks and Caicos – What You Need To Know Before You Go.
2. So inspired, I needed more tissues
The conference kicked off with an incredibly decorated themed room. It was a joyful place to sit that morning to listen to speakers share their stories of how they got to where they are and what’s happening now.
Adam Stewart Deputy Chairman of Sandals Resorts International spoke to us about his personal story of how Beaches got started.
Now that he is a father, he understands the needs of families and shared how Sandals caters to children with autism and sensory along with children suffering from certain food allergies.Experience the Ultimate Family Vacation in Paradise! Learn More about Beaches Turks and Caicos.
Rebecca Minkoff, a fabulous fashion designer, gave us the straight talk on her fails and wins and juggling motherhood. Her honesty and authenticity had me almost on the couch wanting to hang out more.
Jamie Kern Lima, the Co-Founder & CEO of IT Cosmetics, a top-selling makeup and skincare brand recently acquired by L’Oréal for $1.2 Billion. That was a bit mind-blowing because what I saw and heard was a woman sharing with all her heart the journey that it took to get to where she is today. It was not an easy road by any means. Here’s when I needed the tissue.
Daymond John, Founder and CEO, FUBU; CEO, The Shark Group; co-star of ABC’s Shark Tank; and author, The Brand Within, The Power of Broke & Rise and Grind stopped by on our last day for a chat overlooking the beach.
His story of how his childhood and mother really made him who he is today resonated with me as an entrepreneur but also a mother myself and the impact I can make on my girls.
3. Be Kind To Everyone Because You Never Know
I’m an extrovert and every personality test I’ve ever taken says so. Just found out I’m an otter (5 Personality Types Test).
I take risks and launched Local Mom Scoop over 6 years ago when no one was doing South Florida local scoop for moms. I’m not afraid to go live on Facebook or Instagram.
I’ll talk to a wall if it will listen.
But on my journey of Local Mom Scoop, raising kids and meeting so many other like-minded individuals, I’ve realized that most people/bloggers are introverts.
So many suffer from anxiety. Walking into a conference can be crippling for some, as I’ve found on my journey.
But Everyone is nervous and scared wondering if they are good enough to be there.
You know what?
And if you haven’t been selected yet, you still are good enough.
I was the newbie and there were many who had been before me that were back again. Wearing the SMOTS Badge helped because it gave me a bond that opened up dialogue to talk to anyone I saw.
So don’t be afraid and make the connections.
I MADE SOME COOL CONNECTIONS
I connected with some really cool women who have so much more experience than I and yet they aren’t afraid to be real and share.
I had so many bonding moments like with Emily Kaufman, The Travel Mom who is the true OG of mom bloggers.
Audrey McClellan, from Mom Generations, who I met many years ago at my first Disney Social Media Moms Celebration and is always a pleasure to hang out with and gives you Permission To Hustle.
The lovely Meaghan B. Murphy , Editor of Good House Keeping, had a bonding moment with me over parenting and motherhood as we both came out of the bathroom at the Discglow Party.
Debbie-Ann White, SVP of Public Relations and Promotions of Unique Vacations, Inc., was just a kind soul as I walked up to have my girls say thank you for a great time.
Amanda Perna, seasoned fashion and textile designer from The House of Perna and author of “F is For Fashion”, is my friend, mentor and all-around rockstar guided me during the conference.
Rosemarie T. Truglio, SVP of Curriculum and Content at Sesame Workshop and author of Ready for School!, hugged me as I began to cry about something personal and she told me I’m an amazing mom. While Michelle Kreher, Senior Manager of Themed Entertainment at Sesame Workshop, consoled me and told me it was okay.
Ellen Heaney, Senior Brand Manager for Spin Master Games, was seriously one of the easiest people to connect with and have a general conversation with.
Courtney Heimlich, from YouTube, Disc Glow partied with me.
Terrell and Jarius Joseph, YouTube creators, were invited to email me on their next trip to South Florida and we hugged it out.
If I could have cloned myself, I would have. It was hard to meet everyone. Here are some of the other amazing speakers.

5. What You Put In Is What You Get Out
Every event I attend no matter what, I try to walk away with information or a connection. Network for goodness sakes. You’re better in person than behind a computer. So be your brand and shine!
6. Apply Again and Again
Listen! I truly believe that everything happens for a reason. Or it’s supposed to happen when it happens. I was truly honored to be offered an invitation and I was among so many blogger veterans as it was their 5th trip.
Don’t give up!
7. Share The Scoop
You can never share enough. It’s not about what you are owed or how much you should get paid. But it’s what your followers expect.
Tell the story.
Tell the journey.
Share the adventure.
If you have any other questions, ask me in the comments below. I would love to share as much scoop as possible.
