I’ll admit my little ones have been hooked on the Magic Kingdom for years. Once the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train was complete, it was a definite stop on our journey through Fantasyland. But now that’s all changed since our visit to Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
Everyone has been talking about Pandora – The World of Avatar since last May and now I know why. We were invited to the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration along with other influencers for a morning tour of the new land. It was a sneak peek before the doors opened up to the public.
As a family, we decided to ride Avatar Flight of Passage first. This ride was like no other experience I have ever had in my life. If you are planning on visiting Walt Disney World, you have to add this to your itinerary. However, there are a few things I think you should know before you decide.
Here’s the scoop on 9 Things You Should Know Before Visiting Pandora – The World Of Avatar
1.You Are Flying
Well, you feel like you are flying! Wearing 3-D glasses and sitting on a special seat that mimics a mountain banshee, you soar through a world that will have you shouting like one of the Na’vi.
2. It’s The Best Ride I’ve Ever Been On.
Sure I’m still a sucker for the classics like Peter Pan’s Flight and the People Mover. But with technology becoming so much more advanced, this ride is my absolute favorite right now in all of the parks. Again, it will blow your mind as my 7-year-old would say.
3. It Makes Moms Cry
I had the pleasure of riding Avatar Flight of Passage three times in a 2 day period. Every time I road it for some reason during the same time of the ride, I would feel this rush of emotion and well up with tears. Was it that I had no control? Was it that I had total control? Who knows? But during a group conversation with other influencers the next day, all the moms at the table admitted they cried when they got off the ride. Hmmm! Something for Disney to look into?
4. The Build Up Can Be Scary For A 7-Year-Old
Before you even get on the ride, you enter into a chamber where they check you for some sort of alien insects. It’s all very dramatic and can scare little ones. My 7-year-old daughter was extremely nervous. However, I was triumphant in getting her to face her fear and she now says it’s her favorite ride ever. Remember to listen to your child. They do offer ample time to leave if you feel like they just can’t do it. The height requirement is also 44″ tall.
5. It’s The Most Popular Ride In Walt Disney World Right Now (February 2018)
That’s what they told me!
6. People Are Lining Up Outside The Park Before It Opens To Make A Mad Dash.
From what I was told, Disney Fans are lining up outside the Animal Kingdom way before it opens. It’s like a 5k race as people run to get in line. I couldn’t believe the line when I saw it.
7. There Can Be Up To A 3 1/2 Hour Wait
True story!
8. There Is A Bathroom Outside The Merchandise Store If You Need One
My girls are notorious for getting to the start of a ride and having to go to the bathroom. Don’t worry! There is one around the corner from Windtraders which is a nature-inspired shop featuring banshees to buy and more.
10. The Na’vi River Journey Is A Nice Ride To Catch Your Breath
This calming ride has amazing effects and really reminds me of certain parts of the movie. This ride is great for grandma and grandpa, little ones or a chance to brush your hair after your previous flight.
