I couldn’t think of a better way to spend a South Florida Sunday afternoon than attending The Grand Tasting Event during the 2014 Boca Bacchanal Weekend. My friends Jamie and Eric Sauer chaired the event and created a vibrant atmosphere filled with fun and flavor. The wine flowed as the crowd savored a cornucopia of Boca’s finest foods. The craft beer area was a perfect touch, ensuring there was something to please every palate.
Sipping and nibbling for three hours made it difficult to narrow down favorite wines, foods and beers. But, with the help of my local moms, we came up with some favorites that we think you’ll enjoy.
J.P. CHENET Ice Edition
A refreshing and fruity sparkling wine that is going to be my summer favorite. Serve it over ice! My Local Mom Scoop crew says to add fresh strawberries or raspberries after pouring. Around $15.00 a bottle.
Cakebread Chardonnay was one of my favorite white wines. It’s clean, fruity and a light spring summer wine. It’s around $45, so save this one for a special occasion or look for it by the glass in your local restaurant.
This was one of the most popular tables to fight through. Not only was the server handsome as he poured, but the Darioush Signature Cabernet Sauvignon was easy to sip at almost $100 a bottle.
After walking the entire event, all of the local moms seem to make their way to the J. Lohr table. I loved the Fog’s Reach Pinot Noir. At $29 a bottle, it was smooth to taste.
SHAKE SHACK – Loaded Cheeseburger (ate the whole thing)
50 OCEAN – Crab cake on a crostini (yum!)
Truluck’s – Stone Crab (hard to eat, but so delish!)
M.E.A.T. Eatery and Taproom – Guiness Milkshake (these went down too easy) Opening Soon by my friends at Cendyn Spaces
CRAFT BEER FAVORITE
Edelweiss Imports Inc.
Tucher Helles Hefeweizen was a favorite at a German Bar when I was in college. It was nostaligic having a few sips. It melts in your mouth!
