Every time I buy a premade snack mix one of my kids complains about one part of the mix they don’t like. There’s always pieces of the snack mix left in their container. Some of them have an extreme amount of sodium as well along with ingredients I can’t even pronounce.
I decided to make my own sweat and salty snack mix. And I get all the products from Trader Joe’s.
When I discovered Trader Joe’s, I found their display of different nuts like cashews, pecans, and peanuts. I created that as my base for some protein. Added some gluten-free pretzels for some crunch.
But the kids favorite part is the chocolate covered items. From cherries to almonds, there is something for everyone. I know what your thinking. Chocolate candy! What I love about the chocolates is there are no preservatives or artificial colors.
This is a great snack for their lunch boxes or that afternoon snack which is what I use it for. It’s packed with protein plus some dark chocolate for an afternoon boost to get through the homework.

Snack Mix Container Ideas
I use these containers from Rubbermaid to make and take the snack mixes on the way to music class. When I don’t have time, I just make a big batch of snack mix and use the OXO Good Grips containers so everything stays fresh.
