If you are reading this, then you must be planning a trip to the Magic Kingdom for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party.
It’s been a yearly tradition in our family being that my daughters’ birthdays are both in November. We usually go during one of the first weekends after they have taken down Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween decorations.
This year was as magical as ever. It really put us in the Christmas spirit since we live in South Florida.
Every time I travel to Walt Disney World, I always want to share my Disney Tips and Tricks.

Is Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party worth it?
If you didn’t know, Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party is a separate ticket from the regular Disney tickets or Florida Resident Disney tickets. But it’s worth it!
I recommend for kids ages 8 and up as the party does end at midnight. However, we have been going since they were 6 years old. If you have a little one that will sleep in the park, then go for it.
What are the dates for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party?
They mixed the dates up a bit this year. Most of the parties are available on Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.
The party dates below. Check here for ticket availability. Ticket price may go up the longer you wait.
- December 4
- December 6
- December 7

- December 14
- December 16
- December 18
- December 20

Should we plan to do the park and the party that night?
I truly recommend just doing the party. Spend the morning sleeping in or swimming at the resort, depending on the weather.
One year we attempted to do the park all day and then the party that night. The kids were completely exhausted and one of them slept through most of the parade. I was a cranky mom on the ride home. It was just too much for our family. You make the call.
What time can you enter Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party?
The Party opens at 4:00 PM that day, but it officially starts at 7:00 PM and ends at midnight. All other park guests who do not have a ticket will have to leave before that time.
If you are going at 4:00 PM..
Give yourself plenty of time to get to the Magic Kingdom if you’re not staying at a Disney Resort that has monorail access to the theme park. There is a special area to get in line for the party just follow the crowd. You will have to scan your ticket and finger and get a special wristband from one of the Disney Cast Members.
Here is a great timeline.
3:00 PM – Leave for Park
3:30 PM – Go to Will Call and get tickets
3:45 PM – Get in line
4:00 PM – The park opens and you will wait patiently to receive a wristband.
If you are going around 7:00 PM…
The crowds will be leaving so getting monorail access may take longer than usual. You may want to take a boat from one of the resorts.
What to expect when Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party starts?
If you decide to go around 4:00 PM, you will have a special entrance to the party. Cast members will be holding signage. You will walk to the right of the Christmas tree. If you go down Main Street, then you have missed it.
Be prepared for Selfies, and family photos in front of some of the iconic spots they always have.
You’ll receive a Santa cookie and you’ll have the chance to purchase holiday light necklaces and other festive light up toys for when the sun goes down.
Other people will start to leave. This is a great time to use a Fast Pass or check the Wait Times on your Disney App for a ride that isn’t so busy.
NOTE: If you don’t have a ticket to the party, you will have to leave the park before the party starts.
What attractions are open during Mickey’s Christmas party?
After walking through the special entrance to the party, you will be outside of Tomorrowland. It’s a good time to hop on the Tomorrowland Transit Authority Peoplemover or create a Fast Pass for Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin that you can use right away. There are no Fast Passes available when the party starts.
First, we picked up the Holiday card from the Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom. It’s a special card they only have during the party. Then our strategy was to start in Tomorrowland and work our way around to Frontierland which is a great spot to watch the parade.

Where is the best place to watch the parade?
From my own experience, the best place to watch the Mickey’s Once Upon A Christmastime Parade is around Liberty Square.
Get a spot at least 30 minutes before in between the taped sections. The parade comes from Frontierland and heads down towards Main Street. If you watch it here, then you can go to the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train because you will be the first to see the end of the parade.
Watching on Main Street is magical as well. I would plan on getting a spot at least 45 minutes before the parade starts. You will have the falling snow and the beautiful decorations of Main Street to get you in the holiday mood.
What restaurants are available for dinner at the Disney Party?
I suggest making a reservation for an early dinner like 5:00 or 6:00 pm. We sometimes bring a cooler with sandwiches, hummus, crackers, and fruit. We bought fries at the Starlight Diner to share and found a window seat near the castle and watched the last show of the night before the party started.
When the party starts, all of the restaurants stop serving food and start preparing to serve the sweet treats.
What to wear?
It was unseasonably warm this year when we attended in November. If you decide to go at 4:00 PM, you will still need sunglasses, sunscreen, hats, and water. Make sure to pack a sweater, sweatshirt or small blanket for the late night evening as it can get a little breezy.
You should keep checking the weather before your trip.
Of course, many were in the matching tees or coordinated holiday outfits. Everyone gets into the Christmas spirit.
