Kiehl’s Take Me Away

FullSizeRender (15)

The grand opening celebration of Kiehl’s first retail store in Boca Raton took place on Wednesday, February 16, 2016. With skincare, body and men’s related areas, the new Kiehl’s store offers products to help you with that specific beauty need. Fresh juices and delicious appetizers were passed while customers had complimentary facials along with skincare consultations.

I had the opportunity to meet and interview author and Kiehl’s President Chris Salgardo. We chatted about tips and tricks to help that busy woman who probably doesn’t take care of herself. Chris shares his thoughts in our interview below.

Kiehl's

LMS: Why did you decide to open a store in South Florida?

Chris: It wasn’t a question of whether I wanted to be here, it was a matter of when. I think that the way Kiehl’s brings beauty to life is so unique. This store is mirrored to the Kiehl’s store in Manhatten and I think the people of Boca are really going to love it.

LMS: What are your morning routine tips for women, since you have so many tips for men?

Chris: I’ve always been a big believer, male or female, keep it simple. We are talking about over the counter cosmetic products and there are only so much they can do. What I love about the Kiehl’s approach is that it’s always been about the ingredients and what they can do for your skin. Anything with lavender is going to give you a sensory experience that will help calm you down.  Kids are running around and your like, Kiehl’s take me a way!

Another tip is you must have a great moisturizer. This will help your foundation go on flawlessly. Also, a sunscreen should be part of your routine as well. It’s one of the best ways to help with anti-aging. You don’t need to a lot of products. Keep it simple!

LMS:  What’s your one Kiehl’s go-to product?

Chris: Midnight Recovery! It was our first forray into oils in 2010. It’s hard to get Americans to use oils because we are used to always cleansing.  It’s made with 99% botanical oils.  I love this product because I not only use it for bedtime, but on my cuticles, my hair and on a dry patches on my skin. Midnight Recovery is the bomb.

We just came out with a daily version called Daily Revival Concentrate. It’s a little bit lighter weight, if you prefer.

LMS: What other mom product is a must?

Chris: I’m a big eye cream fanatic.

LMS: Ugh! I know I don’t use enough.

Chris: Pack it on. You have to use an eye cream.  I recommend the Avocado Eye Cream. It hydrates.

Thank you to Chris for taking the time to share his tips. His book MANMADE: The Essential Skincare & Grooming Reference for Every Man is a reference for men sharing basic tips and techniques from how to trim a beard to using an eye cream. The chapters include specific grooming needs of the polished gentleman; the extreme sports enthusiast; the bad boy/rebel; the artistic renaissance man; and the DIY hipster.

You can find all of these products at the new Kiehl’s store location at the Boca Raton Town Center Mall.

Kiehl’s also donated 50% of sales at the event up to $5,000 to Florence Fuller Child Development Centers as a commitment to give back. Florence Fuller is a nonprofit organization dedicated to making a positive difference in the lives of children from economically challenged families with the goal of preparing children for a lifetime commitment to learning and empowering their families to build a brighter future
