I wasn’t sure what exactly to expect with the New Walt Disney Animation Movie “Moana”.
Will she be a damsel in distress or just another pretty princess?
Disney created a strong young girl who took my 6 and 9 year old on a journey of her daring mission to save her people on the island. Her people used to be voyagers in the past, but because of a legend they no longer venture out beyond the rough surf.
Strange things start to happen on the island.
Moana has to make a decision to go and find help.
Along the way, she finds help from Maui, a demi god, who guides her and is played by “The Rock” Dwayne Johnson. He was quite good and his personality had the adults laughing and the kids attention.
Moana proved herself to be a master wayfinder.
She was a strong character who was in search of finding out her identity.
Of course, there were a few scary scenes. One in the middle and towards the end, but nothing a little hug and some car explanation couldn’t fix.
The music and songs were amazing. My girls and I watched in 3D which made me want a vacation to a deserted island by the end.
The film was directed by renowned filmmaking team of Ron Clements and John Musker (“The Little Mermaid,” “Aladdin,” “The Princess & the Frog”), produced by Osnat Shurer (“Lifted,” “One Man Band”), and featuring music by Lin-Manuel Miranda, Mark Mancina and Opetaia Foa‘i, “Moana” sails into U.S. theaters on Nov. 23, 2016.
The bugged-eyed chicken made my little ones giggle out loud. I think some of us may have teared up at the end. Overall, I would put this on your Turkey To-Do List for the week.
