When was the last time you had a weekend getaway? I mean without the kids.
This was the first time my husband and I had been away together for over 6 months. As we drove through Central Florida passing cow after cow, my husband kept reminding me that this resort was in the middle of no where. I told him I didn’t care. That I was just happy to have some time together without being interrupted by our lovely children every 5 seconds.
The GPS had us turning right and then left. We passed cows and orange groves. Over train tracks it told us and then we turned right. We were finally at The Streamsong Resort!
The Streamsong Resort located in Central Florida is a premiere golf resort receiving the platinum reward from Gold Digest magazine. Now I’m not sure you know this, but I’m married to a golf professional. He was most excited when I told him I was invited for a Streamsong Resort Weekend Getaway.
When we drove over the wooden bridge, we could finally see The Lodge. This featured 216 guest rooms and suites and would be our home for the weekend. With four casual and fine dining restaurants and multiple bars, there was always a place to grab a bite or a drink. The quiet loft/lounge area and retail stores allowed you to think about more then just golf. This place was going to be much more.
Our guestroom had amazing views of the serene landscape of fishing lakes and forest area. The floor-to-ceiling glass windows featured custom louvers to block out the light and allow us to wake up to a beautiful sunny morning.
The rooms were inspired and created by Alberto Alfonso of Alfonso Architects, who is an award-winning innovative design firm with offices in the United States and Italy.
Alfonso’s vision of Streamsong can be seen through out the entire resort. From his designed built-in furniture to hand panted art hanging in each room, you could feel how much thought was put in the design of just the guestroom itself.
We dined at P205 for a delicious lunch. which included the P2O5 Prime Burger with Applewood bacon was topped with horseradish onion rings and white cheddar. The side dish of truffle tator tots was too much to handle, but we did.
The Grilled NY Strip Salad was my choice for a lighter lunch sprinkled with crunbled bleu cheese, tomato and drizzled with a delicious shallot vinagrette.
For dessert, the Streamsong Resort on site pastry chef created 3 mini desserts to feast on. Oh and I can’t forget their signature Horseradish onion rings with special dipping sauce. I could have eaten just that for my lunch.
After lunch, we hopped aboard the Streamsong Bus for a 5 minute ride to visit The Clubhouse at Streamsong. The Streamsong Blue and Red golf courses were located on this part of the property.
Alberto Alfonso also designed this area. It featured 12 guest rooms, 4,500 square feet of conference space, a golf shop, and an outdoor terrace overlooking a lake and the dramatic golf course terrain. Wherever you walked, there was a picture-perfect view of the rolling dunes and lakes.
The Clubhouse at Streamsong also featured Restaurant Fifty-Nine which is an elegant steakhouse restaurant. It offered a breakfast, lunch and dinner menu. What a great place to stop and eat before hitting the course! Then offer to buy a round of drinks and discuss how good you played at the end of your game.
The afternoon was rather warm, so we ventured over to the lakeside outdoor pool to cool off. It was nice to relax, have a drink and take in the gorgeous views. I was told their were hiking trails on the other side of the lake that bring you back to nature.
For dinner, we were invited to one of the event rooms which had a wonderful view of the property. The chefs prepared many items that were part of the catering menu for weddings and corporate events. From the mini key lime pies to the mini wedge salads, it was a beautiful array of choices and delicious items to try.
AcquaPietra, the spa at Streamsong, was one of my favorite parts of the trip. I couldn’t wait to check it out.
My husband’s treatment was the men’s hot towel facial. He was glowing afterwards. I had the deep tissue massage which is my go to treatment when visiting a spa. By the time she was finished with me, I was a vegetable.
The European-style grotto sanctuary was a great place to keep our serenity flowing. Each of the 6 pools had a different temperature experience. It was great for us to relax, unwind and forget about all of our troubles.
Watching a sunset at the Streamsong Resort is just breathtaking. You can see for miles and really take in the beauty of the property.
There were so many other things to do there. Here are a few more of the Resort amenities and sporting activities at Streamsong:
- Streams and lakes that offer unparalleled Florida bass fishing
- Lakefront fishing dock with bass fishing guides and an outfitter
- Sporting clay shooting range
- Trails for hiking and bird watching
- Outdoor fireplaces
- Lawn areas for special events and activities
- and much more
Thank you to the Streamsong Resort for a wonderful weekend getaway. I hope to visit again.
