It’s sad to say, but we South Floridians have a tendency to stay within our zip codes. Not tonight!
My husband and I were headed to Lynora’s on Clematis Street in downtown West Palm Beach.
When you look up Lynora’s on Google, this restaurant states the perfect description.
“Lynora’s is a gastropub serving gourmet wood-fired pizzas & modernized Italian dishes in a chic, yet chill, space.”
Lynora’s restaurant vibe is so 2016, but the dishes being served were coming from Italian inspiration from the Abbenante family, who have been cooking in South Florida for over 40 years.
Here is the family scoop
-In 1974, the Raffaele and Maria immigrated from the tiny Italian island known as Ponza.
-They began selling pizza by the slice in Lake Worth. Before long that little pizza shop had turned into something special.
– Maria, using her Mom’s traditional Italian recipes, opened Lynoras Restaurant on Lake Worth Road just west of Military Trail in 1976.
-Over the next 35 years the family; parents and children served thousands of residents and visitors traditional Italian food.
-Lynoras became known as the Best Italian restaurant in South Florida.
– The Lake Worth Road restaurant closed years ago and Rafaelle and Maria planned to retire.
-They came out of retirement and in 2014 the Abbenante family united to open the new Lynoras Osyteria combining the best recipes from the past with new alternative dishes.
-Maria still demands the finest ingredients be used in her recipes.
At Lynoras, you will find classic Italian dishes with a modern twist, a blend of new and old world ingredients featuring locally sourced produce and fresh seafood blended with the best of the old world aged Italian cheeses, olives and meats. You are going to love the variety, the fusion of old and new recipes.
My husband enjoyed a wonderful evening of tasting, talking and well….no kids!!!
Here is the Local Food Scoop on the delicious evening we had.
Wow! I couldn’t get enough of this dish. The cheese melted in your mouth with the basalmic drizzle and bit of arugula.
Insalata Di Mare
This was a seafood salad like no other featuring melt in your mouth calamari, scungilli, shrimp, and scallops with a hint of lemon and EVOO. It’s a light appetizer for a hot South Florida night.
PAPPARDELLE ALL’ ANATRA
This dish makes you feel like royalty. It’s so rich and delicious with the pieces of roasted duck, porcini mushrooms and shaved parmigiana along with the decadent brandy sauce. But it’s the truffle oil that crowns the dish.
Yellow Tomato Risotto
This was a special on the menu this particular night. They serve a few different kinds of risotto dishes during the week. The tangy richness along with a little kick after you took that bite made me want to eat the entire dish by myself.
Branzino al cartoccio
This dish is all about the presentation. Brought to us in a secret wrapping, the server cut both sides and presented us with a seafood party. The Mediterranean sea bass was wrapped in cartoccio with shrimp, clams, calamari, mussels in a scampi marichiara sauce. To die for!!!
Nothing like ending the meal with a classic Italian dessert. You could taste the hint of espresso coffee and dark chocolate as it melted in your mouth. Creamy and soooo good! It was a delicious end to a fantastic date night.
Thank you to Angelo, one of the owners, for his hospitality and to Dave and Colton who served us all of these delicious dishes. It was the perfect night after as we strolled downtown Clematis Street.
