Are your kids missing Disney World as much as mine?
Our family had a trip planned to Disney Hollywood Studios during spring break but because of the quarantine, it was canceled.
Walt Disney World Closes
Then when they heard Walt Disney World had closed, our entire Disney World fell apart. Each day they asked:
When would be going back to Disney World?
Will be able to use our Florida Resident tickets?
Every day the kids were so concerned about when they would go back. It was breaking my heart. Plus, my 9-year-old was really struggling with homeschooling and how to handle it.
I asked the kids a few questions like:
Which Disney parks would they want to visit if they could?
What rides would they want to ride if they had Fast Passes?
What food would they want to eat?
They picked Disney Hollywood Studios as their first choice and Magic Kingdom as their second.
So my husband (who may be a bigger Disney fan than the kids) and I decided to do a Stay At Home Trip to Disney Hollywood Studios staying overnight at the Disney Fort Wilderness Campground.
We literally sat down a few nights before and thought about some of our favorite memories and some of the supplies we might be able to use we already had.
You know how I love a schedule. So we came up with one to keep us on track.
Our Stay At Home Disney Trip included:

STAY AT HOME ACCOMMODATIONS
Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground
Pretending to go to Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground was a huge surprise for my girls. My husband set-up his camping tent in the family room area.
He filled the tent with blankets and pillows along with a few Mickey Fort Wilderness plushies and Nala and Simba came along.
Check out the finishing touch of the Mickey Towel display for them to use at bath time.
That night we went outside and made S’mores roasting marshmallows in our Chimenea.
Chip ‘n’ Dale usually hosts a nightly campfire celebration, followed by a classic Disney movie under the stars at Fort Wilderness.
Then we discovered LUVDisney video of the cowboy sing-along. We did the hokey pokey and more in our backyard. I’m sure the neighbors thought we’d lost it.
After the cowboy sing-along, the girls went into their tent for a classic Disney movie (sort of) under the stars.
Breakfast at Fort Wilderness
Mickey waffles for breakfast were requested. We have a Mickey wafflemaker and any pancake batter mix usually has a recipe for waffles on the back of the box.
Stay At Home Trip to Disney Hollywood Studios
Stay at Home Theme Park Rides
We asked the kids if they had 3 Fast Passes which Disney Hollywood Studios park rides would they want to ride.
Their choices were Rise of The Resistance, Slinky Dog Dash, and the Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run.
We did our best at recreating, but YouTube is truly amazing with what you can find.
Rise of The Resistance
We were lucky enough to ride this in January as it’s been tough to get in the queue system once you enter the park.
Moving a bit of furniture around we made special seating as we took a virtual ride. Thanks to Socal Attractions 360 for this awesome Rise Of The Resistance Ride video.
Slinky Dog Dash
This ride is located in Toy Story Land. We set-up two laundry baskets as the roller coaster and my husband and I put pillows to kneel on behind them. We simulated each twist and turn to the best of our ability as we watched the Slinky Dog Dash ride on Youtube.
Thanks to Socal Attractions 360 for this cool video.
Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run
This is really an interactive ride, so you had to use your imagination a lot for this one. You need 2 pilots, a navigator, and an engineer.
My husband and I pretended to push all the buttons while the kids flew.
Stay At Home Disney Hollywood Studios Dining
Woody’s Lunch Box – Lunch
We made our version of “Totchos” which included Tator tots cooked in our Instant Pot Air Fryer, melted cheese, and crumbled bacon.
The Grilled “Three-Cheese” sandwich included white bread, cheddar cheese and a three-cheese Mexican blend I had in the fridge.
Woody’s Lunch Box features classic American fare, old-fashioned soda floats and other Toy Story-themed specialties.
The kids loved every bite. Here is Woody’s Lunch Box menu, if you are interested in making any of these menu items.
For some reason, we always end up at PizzeRizzo for lunch or dinner when we go to Disney Hollywood Studios. The kids love their menu and it’s an easy grab and go spot where you can sit outside if the weather is nice. Get the scoop on the PizzeRizzo menu.
Olga’s Cantina (Quarantina)
Welcome to the local cantina in Star War’s Galaxy Edge, where bounty hunters, smugglers, rogue traders, and weary travelers of all ages come together to refuel, enjoy music, and conduct meetings.
We were lucky enough to get that last reservation at Oga’s Cantina last time we were there. We sipped on a Jedi Mind Trick cocktail and a Bad Motivator IPA.
So my husband and I recreated Oga’s Cantina with a disco ball and glow, light up cups from my 40th birthday party. DJ R-3X was spinning tunes in the background while we enjoyed a concoction of frozen grape juice cubes in sparkling lemonade.
Here is a playlist of some of the songs you might here at Oga’s Cantina at Disney Hollywood Studios.
This video is from Disney Music Vevo.
Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular Dessert Party at Disney’s Hollywood Studios
After watching the Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular, we ended the day at the Star Wars Launch Bay for Mickey Ice Cream bars I found at Publix and a Meet & Greet with Chewbacca.
The Chewbacca face mask was given to us by my sister as a Christmas present. And I was able to Instacart the Mickey Bars.
