If you’ve been living under a rock or you have a child to small to see the movie FROZEN, then you don’t know about OLAF. He is the lovable sidekick who is a snowman and dreams of what it would be like to enjoy summer.
My 3 year old fell in love with OLAF and while at Target a few months ago, zooming through the aisles, my 3 year old yells “WAIT!”. Rolling the shopping cart backwards, I see OLAF sitting on a shelf, starring at us with his big black eyes and his itty bitty carrot nose. The 25″ tall OLAF was the only piece of Frozen merchandise I’d seen other than a Frozen Rice Krispy Treat at Disney World. Well, if you’ve ever shopped with your kids at Target, I’m sure you know how the scenario went from there.
The deal was that she could have OLAF, if she stayed in her big girl bed at night. It worked! For two weeks, he protected her and kept her safe in the dark. But there was a problem. The family was heading to Maine for my sister’s wedding in 2 weeks. Guess who would have to come? That’s right! While walking through the airport, kids were gasping and calling his name “OLAF!“, even high school girls came over to us and said “We love OLAF!”. I knew the FROZEN princesses were popular, but I had no idea the celebrity status of this guy.
Now that he is a part of our family, we decided it was the SUMMER OF OLAF (#summerofOlaf). Yes, I know it’s a little crazy and it seems like we are obsessed with FROZEN right now (who isn’t?). As a family, we decided while creating our SUMMER BUCKET LIST, we needed a theme for the summer. Last year it was the SUMMER OF READING (which is still a major part of our summer, more practical and not as exciting). This summer we decided to change it up a bit.
