Daytripping with family or with friends in South Florida always sounds like an amazing idea.
But sometimes the driving along the highway creates unwanted anxiety and stress.
What if you could have transportation that would allow you to relax, chat, enjoy a glass of wine and get you to your destination in just 30 minutes.
That’s what the Brightline Speed Train is for.
As I first time rider, I had no idea what to expect.
I started at The Brightline Station in West Palm Beach headed to Fort Lauderdale. The station was beautiful and modern looking. There is a scent of something being filtered through the air that makes you happy.
My ticket was for SELECT Coach which is a luxurious way to take the Brightline. With my SELECT Coach ticket, I had access to the SELECT lounge.
This secluded area at the end of the train station had private seating, a place to your charge your cell phone or work on your laptop. Complimentary snacks and drinks like coffee, soda, and bottled water were also available.
When I heard the announcement for my train, I went down to the track with the train headed to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.
My Brightline train was clean and sleek looking. Many of the seats were arranged side by side or as a set of four facing a table. Everyone gets an assigned seat since there is no standing allowed.
Sitting in SELECT Coach was a real treat. All the seats reclined in place, sliding down and back so you can stretch out without bothering your neighbors. I loved that!
During the ride, I was offered complimentary snacks and beverages even champagne by the SELECT-Only attendant. The storage area above your seat is great for small bags, diaper bags and even an umbrella stroller.

BOARDING THE SUN TROLLEY
The Sun Trolley was waiting to take us to lunch when I left the Brightline station. I was lucky that it was already there, but it’s really that easy to ride. Just wave and get on.
All routes are free except for the Beach and Las Olas Link. It’s $1.00 per ride or $3 for an all-day pass. Don’t forget your cash!
The Sun Trolley offers seven routes, including the free Riverwalk Water Trolley, to take you all around the “Venice of the Americas.”
We were on the Las Olas Link, which is just a trolley ride away from the Brightline train.
You can also download the app so you can find out where the Sun Trolley is when you need it.
LUNCH AT LOUIE BOSSI
Fort Lauderdale has a cool Saturday vibe happening, especially on Las Olas Boulevard. Our first stop was cocktails and brunch at Louie Bossi Fort Lauderdale.
What a scene with laughing, chatting and Aperol Spritzes flowing (which is the adult summer weekend beverage at the moment). You won’t be disappointed because they also offer unlimited mimosas, endless Bloody Marys, and Bottomless Bossi Bellini’s.
Aside from the delicious drinks, Louie Bossi hosts a brunch like no other. The menu has everything from scrambled eggs and avocado toast to porchetta hash.
If you’re feeling a little in the Italian mood, then their homemade pasta and pizza are winning. The generous portions and family style plates will have you sharing with family and friends.
I recommend making reservations for larger parties as it is a great place to celebrate a special event. Make sure you check out the outside garden area which has seating available as well.
You can find Louie Bossi at 1032 East Las Olas Boulevard in Downtown Fort Lauderdale.
GETTING SOME EXERCISE ON THE CYCLE PARTY
What better way to work off pasta and Rose’ but to have a Cycle Party!
Cycle Party took our group on a one hour tour of downtown Fort Lauderdale.
How does it work? Well, there are 10 seats on a bike, 5 on one side and 5 on the other. There is regular seating in the back for 5 people who wish to lounge or for kids under 16.
This party cycle is powered by pedaling, But not to worry, this is not your typical spin class.
On our tour, we saw the amazing growth happening in downtown Fort Lauderdale. Our pilot was super informative about historical facts as well as fun places for kids to play and dining hot spots. She also played some great music that had us all singing through the streets of Fort Lauderdale.
Cycle Party offers so many fun options from a pub crawl to a scavenger hunt.

After a Cycle Tour of Fort Lauderdale landmarks, why not hit the water for an Intracoastal tour of Fort Lauderdale.

Rooftop @ 1WLO
My last stop was seven stories above Ft. Lauderdale’s Las Olas Boulevard and the New River. The 4,000-square-foot open-air patio was breathtaking and a cool way to enjoy a Happy Hour after a wonderful day of sightseeing.
With its laid-back atmosphere, Rooftop @ 1OWL will not disappoint. Decide where you’d like to sit in either a secluded private party section or overlooking Ft. Lauderdale. Head over to the bar and watch cocktails being crafted in front of your eyes. bartenders in action.
Speaking of handcrafted cocktails, their selection is unique and certainly something to try. The Garden party cocktail was refreshing with Tito’s Vodka, Prosecco, Cucumber, and Strawberry.
You can order a little nibble with your cocktail as you check out the gorgeous view.
