How does Welivise work?
A coach that they can reach out to anytime, anywhere they need it the most, from a technology that they’re familiar with. They utilize their tablets, smartphones, laptops, all the time. We figured we can give them a service and through the technology that they use on the daily basis.
What are tweens and teens using Welivise for the most?
Medhi: We have a lot of teens and tweens coming in for a variety of different things. There’s the bullying part, family, or the
Erin: In addition to kids having friendship issues or maybe issues even with their parents or things going on at school, sometimes kids can be
How Can This Help Parents?
Erin: We also not only work with the kid, but we can also work with the parents exclusively. So if they have a concern about their child or if they think their child needs mental health care, we can talk to the parents, initially or even involve them in the treatment.
The parent may want to have their tween or teen to have a trusted professional connect with their child and give their child an outlet, a safe space, safe person to talk to about things that are going on in their life in the role of a coach to help them with
We’re definitely here for the kids, but also, for the parents, as well, to help them and support them in the role of caring for their children.
It all depends on how that individual practitioner works. They could work more with the family system involving the child and the parents in treatment or they can have a counselor just for their child, exclusively. There’s confidentiality, just with the child. If it’s more of a family type of situation, then everybody’s involved. Usually for a family type sessions, the provider does offer recommendations, as what to help the child, while still keeping some issues that the child discloses and confidence to the counselor, still providing the parent with helpful recommendations. Having everyone be on the same page as to what are the things that their child is working on, as well as, the parents to help that child along with what they’re going through.
Sometimes like I said, there could be more of a family type of counseling happening. I’ve done that using Telehealth. Definitely. Just as in a traditional face to face, you have maybe a parent and a child sitting next to each other and then a counselor and talking about what the issues of concern are, how they managed to get to this point and how they can move forward in a positive direction.
Parents just want their child to have a counselor or a coach, for what’s going on there. Of course, just like any other counseling session, if you were face to face, if extreme situations, where there is a safety risk involved, then confidentiality is broken with that client because it’s about safety. Then, we would refer, as appropriate, and get law enforcement involved, if that’s necessary. Usually, Welivise is focusing more on coaching kids who aren’t experiencing severe mental illness.
Most teens don’t like to open up to their parents about issues. We want to be a tool for the parents to give access to their teens. They can create an account for their teens. They’d be able to allow the teens to log in, in their own private space. They can reach out to someone like Erin. They can communicate directly by video, but they also have the messaging ability. Your child can just message Erin directly on the secure platform and communicate back and forth just on

Does Welivise provide sports coaching for kids?
Mehdi Bahbaz: Coming from an athlete background in sports, mental health is very important when it comes to performance, in any sport. I think mental toughness is a big part of being successful, as an athlete. I’ll let Erin talk a little bit about that and some of the clients and teams that she worked with or athletes.
Erin: Welivise is a great opportunity for parents to give to their tweens or teens, who are athletes or dancers or in some type of competitive type of extracurricular activity.
Different issues can arise as far as friendship issues on the team or just performance
Mehdi Bahbaz: It’s a competitive world out there. Sometimes the edge is just that mental toughness to be that next level athlete.
How can a Tween or Teen sign up?
A parent has to sign up. A teen can not sign up due to legal reasons. We need consent from the parent. Once the parents, they can control everything that happens in that environment. They can schedule appointments for their own teen.
The teen will also have their own account and parents will create an account for their own teen. They can
Is there anything else that you think these parents might need to know, that we haven’t touched on?
Mehdi Bahbaz: We’re very excited about what we’re doing. I think we really have a mission. We want to make sure that every teen has that support system, whenever they need it the most. I think that’s the
